Red Emperor Snapper
Lutjanus sebae
Highly sought after as juveniles for their striking three wide red vertical bands on a white body. As they mature, they become massive, powerful predators that turn a solid reddish-pink. They require an enormous aquarium with heavy filtration.
About the Snappers Family
Snappers are hardy, active predators that grow quite large. They are best suited for large fish-only tanks with other aggressive species. They are voracious eaters that will consume any smaller fish or invertebrates, so they are not suitable for reef tanks or community tanks with small peaceful fish.
