Pinnatus Batfish
Platax pinnatus
One of the most beautiful fish in the ocean as a juvenile, with a jet-black body and a vibrant orange rim. They are notoriously difficult to keep and feed in captivity, and they lose their stunning juvenile colors as they mature into adulthood.
About the Batfish Family
Batfish are admired for their unique shape and the long, flowing fins of juveniles. However, they grow very quickly and lose their long fins as they mature, becoming large, disc-shaped fish. They require massive tanks and are generally peaceful, but they are not reef-safe as they will eat anemones and corals.
