Orbiculate Batfish
Platax orbicularis
Features a classic tall, disc-shaped body. As juveniles, they are incredibly thin and tall, resembling a leaf to avoid predators. They are very peaceful but grow exceptionally fast and require a massive, tall aquarium.
About the Batfish Family
Batfish are admired for their unique shape and the long, flowing fins of juveniles. However, they grow very quickly and lose their long fins as they mature, becoming large, disc-shaped fish. They require massive tanks and are generally peaceful, but they are not reef-safe as they will eat anemones and corals.
