Aiptasia Eating Filefish

Aiptasia Eating Filefish

Acreichthys tomentosus

An essential utility fish for reef keepers, famous for its appetite for pest Aiptasia anemones. They have incredible camouflage and can change their color and texture to match their surroundings.

About the Filefish Family

Filefish are unique oddballs with a rough, sandpaper-like skin texture. The most popular species, the Aiptasia-Eating Filefish, is often introduced specifically to control pest anemones. While generally peaceful, they are not always 100% reef-safe and may nip at soft corals or polyps once their preferred food source is gone.
